Eagle Downs is a large, high quality and fully permitted metallurgical coal development project located approximately 25km south-east of the town of Moranbah.

 

The Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Eagle Downs Project Director, to the Engineering Manager will provide leadership, expertise and direction to effectively deliver the required technical and functional engineering support to the Eagle Downs Coal Project.

This role provides governance across all the technical documentation and standards through a robust document management and change control process and establishes a planned and predictable work environment resulting in the safe and efficient execution of engineering work. 

This role is offered initially on a 12 month fixed term basis, with potential for extension beyond this.

 

Accountabilities

  • Establish, own and audit the processes required for managing review, approvals and modifications of engineering requests from the Operation in accordance with relevant safety standards, processes, legislation, and applicable standards for the Asset / Operation.
  • Ensure Eagle Downs Coal Management requirements, specifications and technical standards are shared incorporated into all third-party engineering.
  • Ensure the Engineering functions outputs contribute towards achievement of Operational targets and budgets.
  • Influence scope and change management for the project and support and influence operational-readiness development and field engineering investigations.
  • Manage engineering schedules to meet construction schedule and coordinate activities of the unit to integrate activities with other units.
  • Prepare and review technical recommendations, cost estimates, budgets, bids, and scopes for contracts with a focus to maximising Net Asset Value for the project.
  • Promote operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical knowledge of team members.
  • Provide input into long-term planning (Life of Asset, 5-year plan, 2-year budget and short-range forecast). Establish plans, budgets and performance targets for the Engineering sub-functions in line with Operational requirements and standards and ensure delivery against them.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline, i.e. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Extensive mining industry experience in Operations, Engineering, Asset Management Contract Management and Design/Equipment delivery
  • High degree of competency in managing and leading multi-discipline relationships and teams demonstrated competency in Project Management and delivery of major mining and infrastructure projects within time, scope, and schedule as well as successful operational outcomes.
  • Knowledge of, and actively reinforcing, industry safety standards.
  • High level of leadership and relationship building ability with strong and effective communication and engagement skills, to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively with all stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating objective & critical thinking with a track record of delivered innovations and novel solutions delivering value to the project; Relationship building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross functional groups and create and foster a cooperative team environment.
  • Strong commercial bias.
  • Improvement focus – identifying best practice and transferring knowledge.
