ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent position on a 9-day fortnight dayshift roster, DIDO (Drive In, Drive Out) to our Boddington Bauxite Mine. The mine is located just a short drive from Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes), the City of Mandurah (1 hour). Transport options are available.
Please note that accommodation is not provided on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out to site on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Boddington.
As the Senior Mining Engineer/Scheduling, you will be responsible for providing expertise, coordination, and management in developing and communicating short-term plans, schedules, budgeting, continuous forecasts (up to two years), and scenario analysis. These plans will ensure the effective completion of production, development, and rehabilitation activities whilst providing the business with strategic insight. The scheduling process must consider all HSEC (Health, Safety, Environment, and Community) requirements to ensure safe, cost-effective, and continuous production while meeting all quality standards.
Key deliverables for the role are, but aren’t limited to:
- Lead the development, communication, and coordination of short-term plans, schedules, and forecasts for operations, covering production, development, and rehabilitation.
- Participate in investigating reported events related to production planning.
- Highlight, assess, and manage risks to safety and business continuity.
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives in production planning.
- Mentor junior team members to develop their skills and capabilities.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Business Acumen: Proven ability to solve complex problems and handle ambiguity.
- Logical Thinking and Attention to Detail: Understanding implications of how detail and circumstances impact outcomes as well as logical thinking of how events can be arranged to make practical sense.
- Extensive Mining Experience: In mine design, planning, and scheduling for surface mining operations.
- Scheduling Software Proficiency: Highly competent in using scheduling software, with experience in MinePlanner, Deswik suite, and/or Vulcan software being highly desirable.
- Effective Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering.
- Significant Experience in a technical mining role (preferably in surface mining).
- Proven ability to operate in a complex environment, leading and facilitating diverse teams.
