ABOUT Hermosa    

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Surveyor role will be responsible for planning, overseeing and performing detailed field surveys in support of site operations.

This role is a Permanent position from Hermosa Site near Patagonia, Az.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Ensures that work is always executed in a safe manner;

• Plans, organizes and evaluates surveying at assigned site
• Performs complex site surveys and assist in the oversite of field survey crews in performing site surveys
• Performs buried utility location surveys
• Prepares and presents findings to Engineering, Geology, and Operations personnel
• Maintains accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed
• Researches previous survey evidence, maps, physical evidence and other records
• Updates conventional and electronic files
• Reviews and recommends new or enhanced surveying equipment or protocols
• Performs other duties as required

About You:

• Three (3) years of surveying experience relevant to assignment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and interact effectively with customers.
• Demonstrated cross-cultural competence and strong relationship-building skills, including empathy and emotional intelligence.
• Proven leadership in promoting and maintaining a safe work culture and driving safety and performance excellence.
• Experience implementing Environmental Compliance obligations.
• Valid driver’s license with eligibility to drive a company vehicle under company insurance.
• FAA Part 107 certification or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of construction practices and trade standards.
• Skilled in using specialized surveying equipment and technologies (e.g., stadia rods, lasers, GNSS/GPS units, total stations, 3D scanning).
• Experience with drone-based photogrammetry and SLAM LiDAR (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
• Physical ability to walk long distances on uneven terrain.
• Underground surveying experience (preferred).
