The location of this role will be the Hermosa Project near Patagonia, Arizona

 

The Role

We are currently seeking an Assistant Supervisor – Geology Exploration Team who will perform work in support of project geology and exploration activities while providing supervisor and oversight to field technician employees ensuring strict adherence to safety standards at project site. 

Accountabilities:

Include but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for safe and effective operation of Geology Logistics Team and activity.
  • Ensures team members maintain mandatory and necessary training compliance.  Ensuring all team members are trained and deemed competent before operating any machinery/equipment or undertaking an assigned task.
  • Maintains acute and continuous awareness of site bulletins and environment such as road conditions, activities, and restrictions.  Takes proactive steps to ensure the safety of all employees, contractors, vendors in accordance with HSS program standards
  • Advises manager of any work being performed involving movement of containers or heavy equipment, and any unsafe conditions.
  • Provides technical and operational direction to team members in line with Geology and exploration strategy. 
  • Directs team members and participates in the collection, processing, storage and cataloging of geological samples, ensuring consistency and quality control.
  • Develops, maintains and updates all relevant work practice documentation (SWI’s, Procedures, Manuals) as required.
  • Develops and mentors team members

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a similar working environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture.
  • Thorough knowledge of mine safety practices demonstrated ability to maintain safety awareness, and visible field safety leadership.
  • Ability to supervise and direct others consistently and professionally.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High standards of professional and ethical conduct
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain composure, set priorities, and work with a myriad of personalities within diverse work cultures
  • Strong English language, written and oral communications skills.  Bilingual (Spanish) skills a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products – Word/Excel/Outlook
  • Driving company vehicle is required, must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company insurance policy.
