ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.
The onsite accommodation includes meal services and access to excellent facilities, including a gym, beachside workout area, swimming pool, golf course, tennis and squash courts, a sports oval and a range of scenic walking tracks.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent full-time position on a 4:3 roster, Monday to Thursday, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.
As Lead Risk, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation and oversight of the organisation’s risk management system, ensuring effective risk identification, compliance and governance.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Drive identification of business risks and define an accurate risk profile
- Deliver assurance, advice and support to stakeholders across the business
- Prepare reports on trends, controls and emerging issues for executives and Board
- Lead reviews of risk controls, business continuity and system effectiveness
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Risk management and/or assurance practices in complex environments
- Working within the resources sector, ideally with operational exposure
- Influencing senior stakeholders and building trusted relationships
- Analysing data to inform decisions and identify emerging risks
- Communicating clearly across diverse, multidisciplinary teams
- Applying sound judgement in complex and evolving environments
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance or related discipline
- Professional qualification in Risk Management or similar
- Current C Class Drivers Licence
