ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.
As the Health Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the South32 GEMCO Health and Safety Management System protects employees by providing medical care and managing injury activities.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Provide medical care, manage injury activities & support health programs.
- Review and advise on pre-employment and contractor medicals
- Daily ongoing Health surveillance (audio, spirometry)
- Conduct periodic medicals and drug and alcohol testing
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Experience in mine/remote site healthcare and clinical facilities management
- Occupational Health experience
- Proficient in clinical assessment and acute injury management
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders.
- Knowledgeable on Return to Work
- Able to work effectively independently or in a team environment
Qualifications for this position are:
- Degree in Nursing or Paramedicine
- Certificate Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing
- Current and valid Australian drivers’ license
