Worsley Alumina is one of the largest and lowest-cost bauxite mining and alumina refining operations in the world. Worsley manages a bauxite mine, alumina refinery and port operations in Western Australia’s South West.

 

The opportunity

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, the Specialist Electrical Compliance provides asset management, engineering technical support and governance to ensure effective statutory compliance and where necessary the governance to ensure practices are in place to deliver a zero-harm operational environment. This position will drive compliance and change associated with electrical operations directed at providing a safe work place.

 

This is offered as a permanent opportunity.

 

Other accountabilities include:

 

  • Asset compliance management and support to the Operation on electrical equipment and its application
  • Establish Site Engineering standards and procedures to ensure electrical compliance with site and external directives
  • Establish effective governance and compliance management standards and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant internal and external policies, acts, regulations and Engineering standards
  • Develop site inspection regimes to ensure effective compliance management
  • Participate in risk-based plant assessments and develop associated plant strategies
  • Conduct or cause to happen Site Compliance audits as required
  • Conduct or commission Engineering investigations as required
  • Report on Site compliance and governance alignment
  • Identify asset sustaining, compliance and commercial investment requirements
  • Support the maintenance analysis and Improvement functions in resolution of compliance problems
  • Provide technical oversight of plant change requirements and be actively involved in design, assessment and implementation of change to mechanical and electrical plant and associated systems

About you

 

  • Degree qualified (desirable) in engineering or substantial experience in engineering governance, compliance and/or engineering safety critical systems
  • 10 years + experience in a similar industry with a focus on a high level of safety engineering, specifically experience with:

 

Electrical protection and circuit breakers

High voltage safety process and systems

Hazardous areas

Radioactive systems

Legislative Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice

 

  • Desirably, experience in statutory appointed roles specifically with:

 

Site Electrical Supervisor

In House Nominee

High Voltage Isolation Officer

Radiation Safety Officer
