Worsley Alumina is one of the largest and lowest-cost bauxite mining and alumina refining operations in the world. Worsley manages a bauxite mine, alumina refinery and port operations in Western Australia’s South West.


About the role


This is a fantastic opportunity to join a great company, develop and learn the trade as a Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitter whilst working in a mining/refinery environment. This opportunity will allow you to get hands on with various Fixed Plant and Equipment found in an Alumina refinery.


Under the guidance of qualified tradespeople and reporting to the Apprentice Supervisor and Site Supervisor, you will learn and execute maintenance work as required during the course of your 4-year apprenticeship. During this time, you will also be required to attend all scheduled TAFE training.


This role will be based at our Worsley Refinery, where our employees choose to live in the Bunbury, Collie or other nearby communities which all offer an enviable country lifestyle. Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, this is an opportunity too good to miss.


About you


We are looking for enthusiastic, committed people with a keen interest in Mechanical Engineering and are looking to enter into a heavy industrial environment.


Candidates will need to:


  • Have completed or be completing year 12 schooling
  • Have completed or be completing a pre-apprenticeship or Cert II in Mechanical Engineering
  • Live within 1hrs commute of site
  • Have a valid drivers licence
