ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

This role is a (Permanent) position from (Tucson, Az)

 

As the (Sr. Mining Engineer), you will contribute to the technical and non-technical aspects of underground mine design and planning for the Hermosa Project as part of a collaborative team. The Entry-Level Mining Engineer will engage in various project phases, from pre-feasibility to operation, supporting mine planning activities and learning from discipline peers.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Creation and maintenance of the underground capital, sustaining, and operating budget.
  • Communication with relevant stakeholders for input into the budget.
  • Reconciliation and reporting of plan vs actual mine spend
  • Communication with vendors
  • Plan risk mitigation
  • Continuous improvement
  • Manage junior engineers
  • Weekly, monthly, and annual presentations

 

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mining engineering or related field OR Degree in accounting, business, or related field (MBA Preferred)
  • Underground mining experience
  • Cost planning and budgeting experience
  • Experience managing professionals
  • Experience presenting to large groups as well as groups of managers and executives
  • Combined experience in underground mining and cost modelling between 5 and 8 years
  • Mine costing software experience (Xeras Preferred)
  • ERP Software experience (SAP Preferred)
  • Mine Planning Software (Deswik preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI preferred
  • Excellent communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders
