ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of key process plant detail engineering for the Hermosa Project.

This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills and leadership abilities to drive successful project outcomes.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 
•    Manage and direct the work that leads to Taylor execution phase.
•    Plan activities required to complete project execution to meet South32 study standards and support development of various execution deliverables. 
•    Interface with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and vendors to support project development.
•    Monitor the project activities for misalignment, gaps or overlaps and attempt to resolve these with the respective parties. Report any unresolved issues to the Engineering Manager.
•    Review proposals / contracts for execution work and provide feedback to the Engineering Manager on any misalignment with the study plans or risks.

ABOUT YOU 
•    Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering 
•    15 years+ engineering, layout, engineering management, construction, and fabrication, ideally in an EPCM engineering role.
•    Capability to work in cross-functional environments. 
•    Previous experience is desirable with the design, fabrication, and construction of ore handling systems, crushing & conveying and concentrator plants.
•    Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from conception to completion, with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
