ABOUT PERTH OFFICE

 

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This permanent position will be held in our Perth offices. We understand and value the benefits of flexibility and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).

As Specialist Payroll Governance, you will help keep our payroll running smoothly and accurately. You'll ensure our employees are paid correctly and on time while complying with all regulations. This role combines hands-on payroll experience with process improvement to support our organisation's goals.

 

Reporting to the Manager Global Payroll Governance & Compliance, other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

 

  • Shape our global payroll future by helping maintain and improve our frameworks while ensuring we stay ahead of statutory requirements and support our company's strategic vision
  • Guide and safeguard our payroll integrity through risk management and compliance activities, from system testing to year-end reporting, keeping us aligned with best practices and regulatory needs
  • Be part of our continuous improvement journey by supporting various remediation projects and helping develop tools that enhance our payroll processes
  • Build and nurture key relationships across our business, from tax authorities to service providers, while supporting major company initiatives like enterprise agreements and system implementations

 

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

 

  • Hands-on experience in payroll systems and processes, with a good understanding of how frameworks help keep things running smoothly
  • Knowledge of HR and payroll requirements across different countries, helping ensure we meet all our legal obligations while taking care of our people
  • Background in process improvement and problem-solving, particularly in HR and payroll settings
  • Comfortable working with SAP systems and similar HR tools,
  • Good at building relationships and communicating clearly with different teams and stakeholders
  • Understanding of risk management and governance, with experience in helping maintain controls and compliance

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

 

  • Bachelors degree in HR, Business, or related field or proven relevant work history
